President Bush has again used Executive Privilege to keep Karl Rove and other advisers from testifying re: the firing of 8 US attorneys

Karl Rove and other presidential advisers will only be allowed to testify under the following conditions:

Testimony is in private
No transcripts
No sworn oath.

Democracy is dead. Honesty, truth and justice are meaningless words to the Bush administration. He set up a dictatorship when he stole the first election in 2000 and again in 2004, there is no such thing as a legitimate election anymore.

If there is no such thing as an honest election why continue to pretend to elect - it's skewed at every turn. That congress
has done nothing to ensure a verifiable vote makes them as culpable as the Bush administration.

Who will stop this man and his administration as they continue to destroy the very fiber of democracy in the US?

Testimony in private, off the record, no transcripts, and no oath.

BushCo loves those criteria; George and Dick used the same criteria when testifying before the toothless 9/11 commission.

But they have nothing to hide.

They have EVERYTHING to hide.

If they didn't they would not issue those criteria for testimony.

Precisely.

The media is overwhelmingly kind to Bush little.

He is a dictator.

He has always been a dictator (check out his executive orders from Day No.1) and he will remain a dictator until he is either thrown out of office (1 in 1 million chance at this stage) killed, (1 in 10 million chance sadly,) or gets voted out (perhaps a good chance there in Nov. 08 but will only believe it when I see it.)

This is what ahppens when elections are stolen
Mail, this is also something I have known since day 1 - sadly, this fool continues to rape the constitution...or what is left of it anyway.

My point is that how can we ensure that the pubs will not forever more steal each and every election through voting machine fraud as they have done since 2000? It is a very big issue to be dealt with immediately.

and this just in....Bush is commanding Congress to sit until they PASS a new spy law to further invade people's rights in foreign lands. GWD I despise this man and his administration and what they have done to America.

Don't make voting simple or easy
Well... it was activist judges who stole the first election by inaction. :-)

I think the election machine issue is tougher -- what was her name in Portland OR who spoke out 'with authority' and was nearly killed for doing so (Hope I remembered that story correctly.)

So - who with any authority is going to talk on the machine software side of this equation? Disgruntled employees who (I'm certain) signed non-disclosure agreements? Some poor unemployed fool the media wouldn't believe anyway?

How does Western Europe handle elections? Why wouldn't we simply copy their processes? Who needs to re-invent unless there is indeed something greater to hide? It is very easy to vote in Europe...

Some day soon more people will file IRS paperwork online than the number of people who vote here. Now, if that is good enough for the IRS (to file online) why isn't voting online at least an option too? Penalties for fraud on either voting or tax is jail time so equal in my book. But think of how easy voting would be if we clicked/selected boxes, and job done from the comfort of our home/office/library wherever.

Personally I think the goal in this nation all along has been to stymie an equal and fair voting process. The result = dictators.

The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were written in reaction to the way things were in Europe under monarchies. For the most part, they were terrific for the time, but they were also written by rich white men for rich white men. The proof? They had to have a Constitutional amendment to give African-American men the right to vote and then another one for women.

I'm all for a total rehaul of the U.S. government. The first thing I want is term limits on Supreme Court Justices. In the 18th century, people's life expectancy was much shorter than it is now. I'm sure that when the Founding Fathers meant a lifetime, they didn't expect anyone to live much past 50. Then I want term limits for Congress so that they're back in the private sector long before they amass so much money in their war chests. Mostly, I want to be able to dissolve the government (including Congress) when the people have lost faith in the President. Finally, I want the same health insurance plan that Congress gave itself. This way, everyone can afford it (it's only about $500 per year) and they won't get any grief about pre-existing conditions and denial of coverage. Now that's equality!
