There's this newspaper I want to pitch to but I don't know who to contact and I don't want to send blind pitches to the wrong editors.

Would it be okay to email a few freelance writers who have written for the newspaper and ask their advice even though I don't know them or is that too tacky?

I would check the masthead... or you could even call the paper and ask who you should direct your query to.

There is no downside to emailing the writers. It may be a good way to network.
