| the real word | Posted 8/7/2007 11:10:21 AM | show profile | email poster Anyone know what you need to scan/upload published clips to send as e-mail attachments? Do I have to spring for the cost of Adobe or can I do it another way? Thx. |
| dribbledrive1 | Posted 8/7/2007 1:37:48 PM | show profile You need a scanner, of course. There are a lot of free applications that allow you to print a scan into a pdf doument. Just go to google and type "print to PDF" or free PDF converter. |
| bones | Posted 8/7/2007 2:47:19 PM | show profile I sprang for Adobe, and have no regrets. It makes combining multiple scans into a single PDF--and downscaling it for easier emailing--a snap. But maybe the freeware would do the same, I'm not sure. One thing I've never figured out, though, is how to make an article start on a spread. Adobe seems to start every piece on the right, no matter what... |
| leesawyer | Posted 8/7/2007 7:56:38 PM | show profile | email poster Kinkos Kinkos will scan clips and put them on a computer disk in PDF format for about $10. You can then just pop it in your computer and send the files as email attachments like you would any other file. I'm not sure about Staples and other such stores, but I've used Kinkos several times. Good luck. |
| UrbanMuse | Posted 8/8/2007 10:29:29 AM | show profile If you ask Kinko's or Staples to scan your articles, be prepared to get the "this material is copyrighted and you have no right to scan this even though it has your name on it" speech. Plus, it will be costly to pay for the scan and the conversion. Better to buy the supplies yourself or befriend someone who'll do it for free! ------ www.UrbanMuseWriter.com |
| PIKACHU30305 | Posted 8/8/2007 11:33:17 PM | show profile the newest versions of microsoft office let you convert your .doc to a pdf file, but that may require an investment of both products on your part. |
| candylilacs | Posted 8/9/2007 12:15:35 AM | show profile You only need Adobe Essentials, too. No need to spring the big money. I had it and loved it, much easier to play with my photos and make PDFs and anything else. Highly recommend. ------ http://www.mswritesguide.blogspot.com |
