This has happened to me twice now and makes me a little anxious...do i have some kind of problem I need to fix? I am beginning to wonder.

last year I had a full-time SEO copywriting job. After almost 6 mos, I finally got my "90-day review" and the boss said he was happy with my stuff and wanted to keep me, so I got a raise. Two weeks later I was fired.

I have been on a freelance contract for not even two months writing news stories for a morning radio news service. Last week I got a compliment from the boss that my news was kick ass and I did a great job and that we needed to catch up and chat. So I think all is well and keep on doing what I'm doing...Monday I get a phone call from the other boss and my agreement is terminated. The had to cut a couple people loose. And that would mean me.

So I'm getting to the point where I pray to God that no one else ever gives me a compliment, because I will probably get fired a week or two afterwards!

has this happened to anyone else?

In all honesty, the seo gig was not for me. I write SEO well, but didn't want to do it full-time. And they hired another person in the office who could do seo AND write, so I imagine they may have cut me loose so they could save some money and make that person do their writing.

With the show prep writing, I don't know what to think! One day, you're the best, they next day you're disposable. I don't get it.

oh well. onto the next gig...

I stinks.
It's awful...and I think it's happened to tons of people, myself included. At my first magazine job, one day I was being told "happy work anniversary" (first year on the job), we love you, you're great, and was taken out to lunch. A few days later, I was laid off, along with a bunch of other folks, and the editor and publisher had known it was coming for about 3 months. C'es la vie.
