I'm reposting this because I'm thinking that my original topic title was too abstract to attract replies. (Note to self: Scratch headline-writer from job aspirations.)

...Hi. I'm trying to make the switch from newspapers to magazines. I have some magazine experience, but my resume consists mostly of newspaper jobs. Does it make sense for me to put together a functional resume (instead of a chronological one) to show wary magazine editors that I really do have experience that would match their needs?

In this case, I'd go chronological. It's not like the basic skills a magazine needs are that much different than a newspaper.
