| kbdjax1 | Posted 9/7/2007 12:51:09 PM | show profile contributors to print Women's Online mag Do you have payment guidelines? I really don't want to sign up without knowing more about the magazine. I did look at the Web site 'womensonlinemagazine.com' and saw a page there for columnists, but you don't seem to pay those. ------ http://kayday.com |
| westsidestory | Posted 9/7/2007 2:40:04 PM | show profile O'Neal, get real -- tell us how much you are going to pay for contributions, and what rights you wish to acquire. Being upfront about your rates will get you traffic, or at least a bit more attention on this board. with affection, Westside |

| kbdjax1 | Posted 9/10/2007 9:00:53 PM | show profile appreciate the clarification(s) I appreciate your answering my question about compensation. Good luck with your endeavors. |
| ZooZooB | Posted 9/10/2007 10:20:17 PM | show profile So basically, a writer gets to buy an ad for $50 for contributing an article to WOM? Is this what is considered compensation these days? Yikes. |
| prdiva | Posted 9/11/2007 12:45:00 PM | show profile This is a truly hilarious, nervy post to put up on a board of writers. I can only LOL. |
| fourfold | Posted 9/11/2007 2:34:53 PM | show profile If I decline the "offer" of an ad for $50, will my article still run? Or is acceptance contingent on buying an ad? Sadly, there will be a lot of solo entrepreneurs and consultants who, eager to promote their businesses and fancying themselves as budding writers, will take the bait. I can only guess at the quality of the writing that will result. Who, exactly, is expected to buy this magazine? |
| westsidestory | Posted 9/11/2007 2:56:31 PM | show profile See above - it's free distribution. No body has to buy it. And nobody has to print it - it will go as a downloadable pdf. I would have admired O'Neal's savvy in creating a pure-play web operation ...except for the part about doing it on the backs of gullible freelancers. |
| oneal | Posted 9/13/2007 3:26:58 PM | show profile Women's Online Magazine misunderstanding I can assure you my intention was not to take advantage of anyone. Some working writers run businesses as well, and Women's Online Magazine is an excellent advertising forum for small business. Jackie+ |
