I started doing some part-time work for a not-for-profit, including researching and contacting people whose bio would indicate an interest in our cause. Some of the people are musicians, actors or celebrities. What's the best way to find out their contact info?

I remember from previous posts that whorepresents wasn't recommended. Should I get a sub to IMDB? I've already contacted the ones that celebs who have their own websites. but there's one in particular, a singer who was huge in the 70s, who does not. In fact he has quite a few "agents" on the web, so I'm not sure if the will really forward the info. we're just a tiny not for profit. I'm not asking them for donatios, but to participate in a project.

Thanks!

sorry for typos! it would be great is the message board allowed correction...

I just called one of the celeb agents listed on the web and no, they do not forward media or personal requests....

Try who represents dot com (it looks obscene when you spell the whole thing out). That's a good place to start. I never cared much for IMDB (I assume you mean the Pro version) since it's riddled with factual errors.

Good luck.

Chamsah, thanks for answering my pathetic, typo ridden post! I was on my laptop with the lousy keyboard (excuses, excuses...)

I went to "who represents dot com" to check it out, but it costs $12.99 mo and they want me to enter my credit card no., which I'm not prepared to do. This website has no phone number, no mailing address, who is who represents anyway? Why don't they give me one freebie just to try it out? I recall some previous MB posters said they didnt get a reply from customer service, were unable to unsubscribe and their credit card kept getting billed. so I don't want to go there.

I'm going to take the easy way out and email an acquaintance who works at Billboard. They probably have a database, dontcha think?

Good choice
Billboard is a good site... didn't send you there because you'd asked about actors and celebrities. Who Represents covers all celebs.

It might be a good short-term solution. You can always use it for the month then cancel. Your credit card is probably safe and if anything happened, you'd be protected anyway.
