what's the "appropriate" protocol when you leave a job?
Is it best to send a best wishes/goodbye mass e-mail to the whole staff or personally say goodbye to each of your co-workers and EIC assuming you work on a large staff?

At my place, most recent departures have sent a friendly mass "goodbye" email and included their personal email/phone number at the end. I'm sure they also privately said goodbye to their boss and to their good friends at the office.

When I left my last job (I had been there for a number of years) I sent a mass email and also short personal emails to a couple very senior people I had worked with, just thanking them personally for their guidance and support.
