Topic: What to do when I grow up?

While the work is rewarding and often fun, I am increasingly feeling bored and burned-out. I write about almost the same things every day, fight the same battles with non-comms people (i.e. let's send out a press release about our new budget!) and generally feel stagnant. I'm trying to figure out what to do next, a process that I feel is compounded by depression. I feel dead. I used to be quite active in creative writing, and lately, my spark is gone. I've also been increasingly interested in entering the television news production/documentary field, but am unsure as to how my experience would translate. Has anyone been in this position? I hope I don't sound like a whiner, but I could use some tips on how others have gotten out of similar ruts and how they changed careers. Thanks. |
