Topic: Where do you do your research?

| sWordplay | Posted 10/3/2007 7:45:22 PM | show profile I'm just beginning writing for alt-weeklies, and I'm trying to find information on a whole slew of topics - noise ordinances in NYC, preferential treatment for houses of worship, the history of marriage as a governmentally regulated institution - and I haven't the faintest idea where to begin. I have a ton of ideas with absolutely no solid facts behind them, and I don't want to do pure opinion pieces. I just never learned to do this type of research. Are libraries a good place to start? Where can you find city records? Are there online sources to look into? Any ideas - even 'start here, you'll get better' sorts of ideas - would be most appreciated. Thanks! |
