Yes, but confused
I got my present job by responding to a listing from the MB site, but I didn't get the job because of anything MB did. An employer paid them to list the job opening. I saw it, sent my resume into the employer, interviewed and received an offer, which I accepted. The job was listed other places and if I didn't see it at Media Bistro I would have seen it somewhere else or been told about it as people knew I was looking. So, MB wasn't so active in me getting my job, so I'm a bit confused by the question.

I'm in the Bay Area and I found the gig here. Turned out to be close to me. Who knew?

No jobs, a few interviews
And now that I'm not in the NY area, that isn't likely to change. journalismjobs.com has a lot more regional listings.

I've gotten several freelance gigs; I live in Dallas but freelance nationally like so many on here.

I've had better results with cruising the job listings then I had with having my own MB Freelance Marketplace listing, but I may do it again and hone in. I think I was too broad the first time.

Any help with freelancing
I got one job through MB, it was in Baltimore and I lived outside of NYC.

I'm interested in how many of you are getting freelance gigs. I'm trying so hard to work in freelance for something on the side but I haven't heard from anyone yet.

Yes, both staff and freelance positions. The ads are legit. And I've found MB a great source for staying employed, which is not always easy in this field.

MB JOBS

No luck, I have tried for the past year!

Well, you're right. It's just another job board, and the fact that a job is advertised on Mediabistro isn't any better or worse than any other board.

Yes
I got my current job through MB and so far it's the best company I've ever worked at (knock on wood).

I never have. A few years ago I applied for several. I ended up getting a job from the ed2010 board. And I got a few interviews from the journalismjobs board. But my feeling was there were so many others applying, and I suspected a computer was sorting the responses at the other end.

I have. I recently finished undergrad and got a really good first job post college from Mediabistro. I applied from a bunch of different websites and by the grace of God, this one came through.

No job, but plenty of interviews. Within and outside of NYC. Resumes are read, but I agree with a previous post that speed is the key.

I'm just figuring out now how to turn it down.
