I've done a lot in my life. I've accomplished a lot. I never wanted to get married and never wanted to have kids b/c my parents were drunks, violent drunks, and left CPS to care for me.
I got pregnant by accident (I was on the pill, low dose. Gotta take them THE SAME TIME EACH DAY) at 38. I was depressed and despondent, gave in got married and had the kid. WOuldn't have if my career hadn't been going swell or if I had been on an anti-depressant.
So I had my baby and I HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING I ENJOY OR VALUE MORE>
Seriously.
I don't try to talk people into having kids. I don't think peopleshould have kids if they don't REALLY want them and are NOT prepapred to put a life before their own. I thinktoo many people have kids for the wrong reasons. Myself included. But I can say with total 100 per cent honesty that I have never done anyting more important, more satisfying, more creative, and more fulfilling than carrying, giving birth to, and raising my child. Nothing compares. Nothing. Not the career success, not the parties, not the NY Times byline, not the night flirting with Peter Jennings, not the TV appearances, not the awards, not the hot nights with the sexy men, not meeting the VIPs, not the fuck-me pumps, not the raise or promotions, nothing.
NOTHING.
That's just my two cents.
