I'm in the process of editing a catolog (which I have never done before) and wanted to find a standard for writing a span of year, such as:
1997-2000
OR
1997-00
OR
1997-'00

Does anyone know the AP style on this one?

For catalogs, companies usually develop their own style guides. Look at previous issues of the catalog to see what has been done consistently before.

Personally, I hate the hypen between dates and numbers and would prefer to use "to."

Also, this question is posted in the wrong section. "Off Topic" is for people who don't feel like talking about work.

1997-2000 would be my best guess, unless you're writing in paragraph style -- "From 1997 to 2000, he had four DWI arrests." Look at past issues, if possible.

Angela's right -- you can definitely put this in either media or beginners and you will get more responses. Here, people are looking to procrastinate from thinking about work! ;)
