I have an interview this week with a major publishing house that I interviewed with over a year ago. Would they still have my employment application and resume from last year on file? Do they toss them after a set time? I would like to fill out new forms anyway since the old ones are kind of outdated.

It varies from company to company but if I had to give a standard, I'd say six months.

By law, they are required to keep them on file for three years. That doesn't mean they will, or that they'll be able to find it, but that is what they are supposed to do.

random thought...
I have always suspected that Bertlesman keeps everything they get through that monster job site of theirs forever...and the bean counters and HR zombies sift through it for fun (cue the bwhahaha)
