Basically, one of our law enforcement agencies arrested three of the classified salespeople at our only alt-weekly for promoting prostitution by selling those 'massage' ads in the back of the paper. http://www.orlandosentinel.com |

There was a recent piece about prostitution and Craigslist in the NY Times in September: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/05/nyregion/05craigslist.html I know print is different than online, but I have always wondered about those ads. They're rampant in the Village Voice here in NYC. (I guess its no surprise that they showed up in Orlando, too!) I think its interesting that they chose to go after the salespeople as opposed to the supposed sex workers. (Probably much easier to prove and make an example of them ...) |
