| granitegirl | Posted 10/28/2007 12:45:26 AM | show profile noname: we're talking on staff, right ? Not freelance. Because I don't take staff positions anymore. I can't freelance for competitors that way, and that's how you drive up your price. |

Biblical ones: textual criticism. There IS a difference. I have no reason to be biter against women's mags. They've been quite good to me. They put me and my significant other through grad school. They paid me a lot of money for many years. But it was not fun, nor were the bykines good for my career, in the long run. I am not the first person to have that observation. Not in the last five years, or ten years, or fifty (read The Bell Jar). The "you're just jealous" counter argument is one that thirteen year old cheerleaders use against girls who didn't make the squad. Some of us outgrow that phase. Those who don't, well...I won't finish that sentence, or tell you where they are, or the kinds of things they say when their medium is criticized. Think about it: Dove is critical of women's magazines these days (see their latest ad campaign???) WHen the beauty industry is critical of the media, messages from the media, including women's magazines ("GET TO YOUR DAUGHTER BEFORE THEY DO."), I mean, come on. We should ALL take note. |

I was wondering if I had the dates wrong. |
