Has anyone written for Budget Travel lately? I pitched them about a year and half ago and got a response that they weren't taking pitches from unknown writers at that time. I was just wonder if things have changed since then. Any other related anecdotes would be appreciated.

i queried through email and went back and forth with an editor.. refining it per his slanr; answering his questions... and finally after a week of emails he said "thanks, I'll pass." I was bummed -- and it was a good idea that I have not pitched enough elsewhere...if he was going to pass, why string me along....

I've written for them numerous times, but every time recently they just quickly say, "I'll pass, thanks." They think they're bigger and more important than they are, expecting ideas beyond the editorial they currently run.

What kind of stuff are you pitching, ISR? Could it be that they are going through a "cut down on freelancers" phase? When's the last time you pitched them?
