| MsWebWriter | Posted 11/11/2007 3:18:10 PM | show profile Try SEO before you go legal Having your lawyer send one blogger a letter may make the situation escalate even more, as the writer may post the letter online (and possibly publish your personally identifiable info). Even if they hide your PII, it's like a rallying cry for their cohorts in the blogosphere, to post and repost your legal "threat" and gain more valuable space in the search results. Go legal if you must. But you may want to consult with a search specialist (even a savvy Web-design friend) who can help your client's site (or your site?) rank better and push down those negative blogs in the search results pages. |
| candyisdandy | Posted 11/11/2007 3:57:52 PM | show profile Is it possible that bloggers often times carry bad reputations because they aren't always coming from a professional opinion, but rather just personal opinions that aren't necessarily always accurate? I.e. Anyone with a computer can start a blog, where as a proper writer actually has to prove themselves before they start writing for certain publications (either online or in print).. Of course, there are proper blog writers with professional opinions but there will always be the odd armchair politicians or armchair fashion "experts" etc etc.... |

| MsWebWriter | Posted 11/12/2007 11:53:21 AM | show profile Sorry. Okay, my apologies for all thirty of my posts. And I'm not even sure how a new one appeared this morning. :( |
| kate23 | Posted 11/12/2007 2:39:55 PM | show profile You also have to prove that harm has resulted from the blogger claiming that the product was made from fake tree bark. If there's no damage, there's no case. You're really best off to just forget it. |
| Aratinga | Posted 11/12/2007 3:00:14 PM | show profile Sorry, Drib, but you are wrong on this. Bone up on your libel law. |
| Aratinga | Posted 11/12/2007 3:02:59 PM | show profile That, too, Kate. Otherwise tabloids like the Enquirer and the Star would have been run out of business a loooooong time ago. Same for bloggers like Perez Hilton, I would imagine. |
