Not to rub it in, but Canadians are practically Dancin in the Streets (Bay St., the Wall Street of Canada).

Prices are falling faster than the Maple Leafs.
(sorry hockey fans).

Wal-Mart, Zellers, The Bay, (yes, Ye Olde Hudson Bay Company), have cut prices drastically.
Sears, has followed with the price cuts this past week.

Car prices are falling also.

A Mustang that cost $20K in the States, cost Canadians, $28K and up.

Not anymore.

Now, if only the liquor prices come down.

For years, an American book that cost $25 was $35-$40 Canadian, but now Heather Reisman, has books at par, but Canadians are demanding that they cut the price even more.

The big benefactor in all of this?

Why Buffalo, NY, of course.

Canadians are happy to line up to cross over and spend, spend, spend.

Warren Buffet was quoted as saying this reversal of fortune will continue for approximately 2 or 3 more years.

Welcome Canada, to the world of unsustainable consumption. Well, actually, you were already in that world with us Americans, but so be it... In fact I saw somewhere that Canadians consumer more energy per capita than Americans, which I found quite surprising, but really in a way makes sense with colder weather, distances at least as far as those we travel in the US, etc. etc.

I wonder why Warren Buffett thinks this will only continue for 2 to 3 years? I thought he knew energy issues pretty well (and that Canada is an energy exporter). As far as I can see, the future is looking much brighter for Canadians than for Americans. One Canadian guy I work with is lamenting that if/when he wants to return to Canada he won't be able to afford it!

Yes, Canada, look at how well cheap products have worked out for America. Lead in our toys, poison in our toothpaste, the date rap drug in bathtub toys, bacteria laden foodstuffs--yes, we here in America offshored everything in pursuit of the cheap and it's done us a whole lotta good. Perhaps your housing prices will also artificially inflate and then crash once people have overextended themselves through re-fi. At least medical treatments in the U.S. will be cheaper for the rich Canadians who come down because they don't want to join the state-sponsored queue.

At this point it's a welcome relief after losing $.45 on a dollar.

Well, Buffalo has such a depressed economy of it's own, a boost like that is a welcoming relief. I am happy to see them get a little something since they've been hit pretty hard in housing and employment. At least some Americans can reap benefits from a situation derived from a shitty, bungling, mercenary-leaden administration that the Bush clan is.

And let's not forget global warming. Canadian real estate will get even hotter as the weather warms.

You know I love being the American in Toronto. You can't find a better place to be. I love this city!
