| robertrbe | Posted 11/15/2007 2:17:09 PM | show profile | email poster I worked as a celebrity stylist and makeup artist for five years. I was the Promotions Manager for a denim line for two years. I spent three more years working as a Publicist for a firm that dealt specifically with fashion and beauty clients. I have recently completed my licensing requirements to be a practicing Esthertician... and I want nothing more than to become a Beauty Editor! Any ideas or suggestions? I'm really open to advise, and am seeking some fresh ideas. |
| prdiva | Posted 11/16/2007 11:03:36 AM | show profile Job openings in this field are few and far in between. Have you done any freelance beauty writing? What qualifies you to be a beauty editor? I think that generating some clips...be they online, in newspapers or smaller magazines would help your cause. good luck! |
| AWC | Posted 11/16/2007 11:34:16 AM | show profile You probably need to focus more on the "editor" part of "beauty editor." Do you have any writing and/or publishing experience? If not, getting that experience would be a place to start. |
| urgent! | Posted 11/16/2007 3:39:26 PM | show profile I work in pr with a lot of beauty editors and it seems you really have to move up the ranks from an assistant editor, if you're willing to do that. I would imagine, though, that you're background would make you an assett to the department - good luck! You should also have some writing clips - have you ever written? |
| robertrbe | Posted 11/16/2007 9:54:48 PM | show profile | email poster I have written... published in several beauty and fashion industry 'zines. I'm also a published playwright, but that's just a hobby. |
