I've queried 2 nationals (2 different article ideas) and the response I got was: (pub #1) I like your idea but won't be thinking about it until Jan. and (pub #2) I like your idea but we do x in house. So what do I do next? Is this the nice way of giving me the brush? Or should I hold out for Jan. and repitch the other mag to a different column (I'm sure it would fit in the mag) Thanks! |
| flight risk | Posted 11/19/2007 11:46:26 PM | show profile Sounds pretty clear cut to me. One is saying their staff covers whatever you pitched so go elsewhere with that piece. And the other said get back to them in January. These are both common situations. |
| dribbledrive1 | Posted 11/20/2007 1:32:01 AM | show profile Repitch the second magazine another idea. Check back with the first magazine in Jan. And if you like, you can still pitch that idea to other magazines, since the first magazine has made no commitment to you. |
