There's a new post at tvnewser which poses an interesting question, which I thought might be a good thread-starter:

If the CBS News writers go on strike, "will Democratic Presidential candidates cross the picket lines and participate" in the Dec 10 CBS debate?

My answer: no. I don't think any of them will.

Democrats will do anything for a vote. They will pick up picket signs and start protesting. They will lock arms with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and sing"we shall overcome".

Clinton has picked up a lot of labor endorsements. No way she crosses a picket line. And if she doesn't go, the debate becomes pointless. If any of the other candidates go, what they say at the debate is white noise -- the picket line will be 100% of the story.

???
Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, and the others are not writers. They aren't even actors, comedians, commentators. They won't be acting as such in the debate itself, so I really wouldn't consider it 'crossing the picket line.' Being CBS, network television, it's national exposure that Barark, Edwards, Kucinich, Dodd and the others cannot afford to miss. And with Barak gaining ground in some of the Iowa polls, Hillary probably won't want to miss it either if Obama shows up.

I expect them all to show up, but all of them to give some line supporting the writers guild. And they'll sin We Shall Overcome? That's cool, of course the GOP doesn't sing anything not sung by Prussian Blue. And the only coming they do is in their senate offices or in the airport men's room.

The writers are victims. So the Democrats must stand with them.
Hillary will be there with her fake southern accent and John Edwards will be there with a can of hair spray in each pocket.
