| mark28 | Posted 11/23/2007 10:27:05 AM | show profile | email poster Do major publishers have a relationship with the book review editors at big periodicals such as the NYT? Is there anything an author can do to increase the chances of getting a review by a noticeable periodical? |
| Village Gal | Posted 11/23/2007 11:00:15 AM | show profile It is reasonable to assume that major publishers send review copiesd to the major publications. I think the best way would be for the author or publicist to contact reviewers you know and reviewers who seem like a good fit, send them the book and encourage the reviewers to pitch it to their editors. |

| writesonwater | Posted 11/23/2007 3:47:53 PM | show profile It's my understanding that major dailies don't review trade paperbacks -- only books that come out in hardcover. This is true of my local big daily -- anyone know how it is for others? I think the real biggies also get galley copies, which is how reviews by them appear on the book jacket etc of new books, right? It's also my understanding that there's a finite window for review -- usually within a few months of publication. Hope someone provides more insight on these -- I'd love to know more .... |
| QiSoftware | Posted 11/23/2007 7:21:45 PM | show profile Publishing is not my area-- however gather.com routinely reviews novels and books in progress. Is this an option? Regina Thomas qisoftware.com ------ qblog.qisoftware.com |
