I've had most of my experience with magazines and not newspapers and now tht I'm working at a daily I want to start copying my clips...and don't really know how. Is there a special format or do you pretty much just have to make sure the whole story is there along with the date?

Also, what should I do with my bigger features that cover the front page of a certain section?

Last one: If I had the front page, above the fold story, should I copy it to show it was on the front page?

Thanks...I want to apply today, so any help is much appreciated!

Make friends with the layout people and see if they will create pdfs for you. Alternatively, you have to physically cut and paste and make copies. Cover stories don't mean much if they're not really, really good. Example: if someone who lived in the town the paper covers died in an overseas bus crash, it may make a small mention. If you didn't have time to get details of the crash and interview enough people in time for your deadline, you may have a story, but it's not necessarily one you would want to show other editors. Editors want to that you can think and that you can tell a story well on deadline.

Thanks!
Right now I'm in the middle of doing the cut and paste thing. Is there any good formula to it? It's tough to make it look good...
