been writing for a website...

know they want me to edit "spruce up" some existing copy.

how much is a fair rate for this type work.

If you are used to doing editorial work, go with your gut instinct -- then double or triple that amount.

This is so tough -- I have one client I was proofreading for. Then they caught on to the fact that I could to major, substantive editing and they welcomed that. Now they send me half-done things and need them rewritten.

So do I charge my same hourly rate for something that transforms a piece and turns it inside out?
