| Village Gal | Posted 12/7/2007 12:25:30 PM | show profile Any class is only as good as the teacher. If you study at NYU or the New School, (or any university) you will most likely get instructors who have both teaching and writing experience, as opposed to instructors who just have writing credits. |

| sd2la | Posted 12/20/2007 6:20:55 PM | show profile Sackett Street I took a few classes with them. They are small-about 6-8 people, and it is a workshop format, i.e. one person submits work and others write critiques as well as give verbal ones. The teachers all have MFAs from the top schools in the country-Iowa, Columbia, etc. My writing improved drastically and the class also made me a better reader as well. |
| foodlit | Posted 12/21/2007 10:13:53 AM | show profile Lauren Barnholdt is a multi-published YA writer who also teaches classes and with her agent Nadia Cornier, wrote a book for Writer's Digest on how to write YA. Lauren is great, and many of her students have sold after taking her classes, which are all online and very inexpensive in comparison to the courses here. I haven't taken her classes, but several years ago we were critique partners and her suggestions were always incredibly helpful and dead on. www.laurenbarnholdt.com :) Pam |
