what's your budget, and what kindof atmosphere do you want? Day or evening? inside or out?

hi. i would love something outdoors (garden) with a decent indoor backup plan in case of rain (sadly not a joke). some place that is old and has lots of character and is really cozy and sweet would be nice too. i would like to keep the costs pretty low, but i am willing to pay for the perfect place.

thanks for any feedback!

Couple of places come to mind (all depend on your numbers of course):
Fox Theatre -- Rich colors (deep reds), very dramatic, great lighting, filled with character. Guests can stay across the street at the Georgian Terrace (which is also a nice place to look into for smaller receptions).

Biltmore Hotel - newly renovated but also filled with charm and character.

Fernbank Science Center - unique venue...very upscale.

Aquarium -- Same...i've heard the events are spectacular

There are also smaller venues, old plantation type places, mills that are more 'traditional' in feel and are better for groups less than 100.

Tell us more about your group and the feel you're going for and we'll post more details. Do me a favor, will you also post this on Making It in the City.com forums? I'm working on a big event for them and they're working hard to build their forums too! Will be great if this question appeared on the Atlanta section.
Congrats on your engagement! aj

THe WImbish House (Atlanta WOmen's CLub) is also really nice, and with the rental you can bring in your own alcohol and caterer. It's a really nice venue. If you want outdoors, Park Tavern has outdoor capabilities for both reception and ceremony, and they have indoor areas as well. Weddings there are lovely. WHat's your budget like?
