How do you do it?

You do not DO willpower. You either have it or you don't.
I've got it in spades, except for chocolate.

I don't have any. For food, wine, or shopping.
Thank God my husband has restraint and guilts me into putting on the brakes, particularly with the shopping part. He's my saner, better half.
Although, I have to say lately I have used restraint so far as food goes. I want to look good in a bikini when we go on a trip in Feb., so every time I am tempted to eat something I shouldn't, I think about how awful it would be to stroll down the beach, too embarrased to take off a sarong (sp), and how good it would feel to not even think about not wearing one at all.

I was born without my needed dose of willpower.

it's not so much a food issue (except for Peeps) as it is an impulse issue. i sent off a nasty e-mail this a.m. to my mother-in-law (regarding the "i feel like argiung" post), and i could not stop myself from doing it.

i think i have a willpower deficiency in terms of communication.

but even for those of us without willpower, there must be a way to cultivate it somehow...yes-no?

Well, there's the old "count to 10 before you speak" adage.

In today's fast-paced world, though, counting to 10 doesn't mean a thing. Pick a sufficiently large number that you will get bored or distracted before you reach it (say, 1000), and vow to count to it before you do anything rash.

mostly, I don't (do willpower), however, I do think about karma a lot, so I try not to put things out there that are mean-spirited. I used to be a real smart-ass when I was younger, though. Eventually, shooting a fish in a barrel lost it's appeal.

Actually, shooting fish in a barrel isn't as easy as the saying implies, according to MythBusters ;)

Whoops, my geekiness is showing...better cover that up, eh?

the planet would be awfully more boring if everyone on it had willpower. It's your without it that make life thrilling and interesting. So go with it, embrace that inner Veruca Salt, and hook up with someone who will keep you from getting yourself killed and/or in too much trouble with the law.

"I want it! I want it NOW, Daddy."

Nope, didn't work.
