RHODES (HOUR ONE, SEGMENT TWO): Anyone who underestimates the power of the Oprah is stupid, stupid. But she went totally Maya Angelou yesterday, without the scarfs and the hats, but totally Maya Angelou.

She was blacker then Obama yesterday. Do you know what I mean? Let em tell you something. Everyone who watches Oprah, are the whitest people in the world. Yes even the black folk. Even the black men who watch Oprah are white women while they watch Oprah. We all know what we are talking about.

Randi Rhodes Blasts Oprah For Going 'Blacker Than Obama'

The only time Oprah gets blacks is when she does the ugly cry. Do you know what I mean? But even when she introduces John Travolta, she is whiter then I am. She Ja John Travoltaaaaaaaaa. Ehh she's like a ah ah ah ah ah freaking ah ah ah World Wrestling Federation thing. You know what I mean.

She's like eh she's so unbelievably white, I just think she ca ca, so why didn't she go be her authentic self? Which is what she is always telling me to be. Be my authentic self.

I'm like, yes Oprah, you're right. She totally showed up as her mentor yesterday, who is Maya Angelou. She was le ah ah, I I I couldn't, why is she turning up the blackness a notch or two or three for these appearances? Her appeal is that she's her authentic Oprah. That's why we love her

Rhodes is a partisan hack just like BOR and RL. She annoys me even more because she's bad for the progressive movement.

Thank God most progressives don't think like her, which is why she's marginalized on some minor radio network.

BOR and RL and bad for the conservatives, too. BY the way: Rush lost a lot of cred when it was discovered that he was paying a woman to shop and feed his narcotic prescription drug addiction that was so bad he lost most of his hearing in one ear. He, of course, has consistently called for strict prison terms for drug crimes (but obviously not for himself). I'd also like to point out that the ACLU defended RL's right to medical privacy.

But back to Rhodes: she doesn't have very many listeners.

I will refer you to my previous comments on other threads about how the success of wonky, personality driven opinionated, mean radio and teevee hosts is actually not something to be proud of.

So just as BOR's success among conservative teevee viewers (especially older ones in the pre-bedtime 8 p.m. timeslot) is a sign that many conservatives aren't interested in news but rather opinion.

Rhodes' marginal status is a good thing, because it shows progressives are too busy reading news than consuming the "empty carbs" on the airwaves.

So, I repeat: keep backing BOR, my friend. It's exactly what you should be doing because that is the nature of people like you.

How's that for consistent?

You fail to mention the liberal double standard.

isn't that like being a little pregnant? What exactly is being blacker? Is there such thing as being whiter? She is black. Do you speak the same way at work that you speak to your friends?

I don't think Rhodes making an observation of "blackness" or "whiteness" is equivalent to BOR going to Sylvia's and expressing surprised at how civilized black people behave in a restaurant. It very disingenuous for conservatives to make those kind of comparisons, but you already know that.
