4. Have you ever witnessed a crime being committed? I don't think so...

5. Are there any stereotypes that you secretly think might have some truth to them? I think everything's a stereotype for a reason, but that doesn't make it a rule cast in stone. Usually stereotypes are just the worst/most extreme examples of a group of people being used to represent the whole.

7. Would someone be able to guess your ethnicity based on the way you look? I would think so, but people have told me I look hawaiian, egyptian, indian, etc. when in fact I'm hispanic.

8. Who have you lost contact with and you would love to reestablish a connection? My best friend in 6th grade who I did in fact get back in touch with a few months back but I'm not sure the connection is till there. It makes me sad.

Thanks for helming this fun feature once again, JBE!

1. Have you ever boycotted any products or establishments? Yes, but not in a sign-carrying way. Just a stubborn refusal to use/frequent/recommend.

2. What would you define as your comfort zone? my writing chair at the lake. I would always rather be there. In a crowd -- like tonight's Christmas party for a board I'm on -- my comfort zone is to have a function. Taking pictures. Making others comfortable.

3. In your opinion, what were the biggest news stories of 2007? Virginia tech shooting was big. The mortgage debacle was major fodder. Democrats seemed to pick up speed; the pending election.

4. Have you ever witnessed a crime being committed? Yes. A screaming woman with hands tied above her head was pulled back into a sedan by an angry man. I was just a girl and the police didn't take me seriously when I duly reported it.

5. Are there any stereotypes that you secretly think might have some truth to them? Yes, but if I repeat them I will be contributing to stereotype right? Men are GENERALLY less communicative than women.

6. What books have you started to read and just can?t seem to finish? Like Bleak, just about every book. It has to be great to get me to read it cover to cover. I'm a grazer, I guess.

7. Would someone be able to guess your ethnicity based on the way you look? Ha! My face is an amalgam of my gene pool. When my hair was dark, people often assumed at first glance that I was something Mediterranean, could be the French coming out; I think that's the strongest influence. Irish, German, English, Scottish, Norwegian are all in there somewhere, too.

8. Who have you lost contact with and you would love to reestablish a connection? Cousins in the British Isles...

9. What are you somewhat obsessed with? A book I'm working on.

10. What were some of the magical moments of your childhood? Drawing a mural in pencil on my wall at age 5. It was a massive school, with kids. I resented my mother not sending me to kindergarten. Teaching myself piano. Reading. Time spent at my grandmother's, where there was love and order. Seeing the prairies for the first time (I was raised on the mountainous coast.)

Drifting off to sleep beneath a flannel sheet, wool blanket and cotton chenille coverlet while the rain patters on the cedar shakes, the wind blows in the cedars, the waves crash on the beach and the foghorn blows. If I could experience that every night, insomnia wouldn't be such an issue with me.

~Bonus Question~
What do you secretly enjoy but would never admit to? A woman who will tell you what she would never admit to will tell anyone ANYTHING.

1. Have you ever boycotted any products or establishments?

Yes. Domino's Pizza, because it's founder Tom Monaghan used his profits for right-to-life causes. While he has since sold the company, I still boycott Domino's because we have plenty of mom and pop pizzerias in my neighborhood with delicious pizza being made by, real live Italians! Last year, when I saw a Domino's commercial hawking "Brooklyn Pizza" I found it insulting! What a bunch of corporate morons to advertise "Brooklyn Pizza" in the Metro New York area!

2. What would you define as your comfort zone?

Reading a great biography, memoir or "364" book -- without interruption.

3. In your opinion, what were the biggest news stories of 2007? In addition to the above mentioned, Al Gore receiving the Nobel prize (which I think will be debated for years to come).

4. Have you ever witnessed a crime being committed?

The elevation of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court - I believed Anita then, and I still believe her now.

5. Are there any stereotypes that you secretly think might have some truth to them?

Latins make great lovers?

6. What books have you started to read and just can't seem to finish?

If I'm not into a book, I don't finish it. No worries. There are plenty more to crack.

7. Would someone be able to guess your ethnicity based on the way you look?

When I was a teenager, with straight, long, jet black hair, some people thought I looked Native American.

8. Who have you lost contact with and you would love to reestablish a connection?

Alice

9. What are you somewhat obsessed with?

Reading and writing.

10. What were some of the magical moments of your childhood?

Visiting Sebago Lake. The waters were so crystal clear that underwater you could see the pupils of your swimming buddies' eyes!

Loved going to the candy store for a vanilla malted.

Loved, loved, loved, visiting my family in Canada. Never wanted to return home.

Bonus Question

What do you secretly enjoy but would never admit to?

I can pretty much maintain my looks and weight effortlessly while my friends knock themselves out with dieting, exercising and grooming (standing hair and nail appointments).
