MSNBC incorrectly names two baseball players as being part of steriod scandal. Issues apology?
This afternoon MSNBC named baseball players Johnny Damon and Nomar Garciopara as implicated in the Major League Baseball steroids scandal. Only it turns out that was not the case. MSNBC had to make an on-air apology for this gaffe at the top of the 5pm hour just before Hardball came on.

How can anyone think MSNBC is a real network???

WOW!!! I didn't know MSNBC was the first network to make a mistake in reporting. CNBC did the same thing, at least MSNBC corrected themselves, most networks don't even bother and let there mistakes go off as being the gospel. You should probably go back to the source, which is the WNBC reporter who made the initial error.

How about Fox claiming Obama was a muslim on a number of occasions. That was ok right?

Excuse me Olby, but I think the point of your post was MSNBC did it, MSNBC did it. Now when someone else points out the same thing that FNC did, you want to bitch back about it. If anything, it seems to me that you have no problem when other networks make mistakes and don't own up to it. You rather have the networks you enjoy watching smear inaccurate facts and never own up to it. I know I rather have a network report accurate facts, and when they do make mistakes, they own up and apologize. I guess though in your world, you are always right, there are no mistakes, and everything is done correctly all the time.

Lastly, why in the heck did you do a post on the Mitchell report and MSNBC reporting about it. The players that were incorrectly named weren't the only ones incorrectly named. Your entire thesis for this post is flawed anyway. Players like Sosa, Mcguire, and others are known to have taken something, but no paper trail could be made. Next time you want to call out MSNBC, try something that doesn't have publicly known holes, like the Mitchell report. Maybe the NIE, something about the war. Not a sport that has problems.

Olby - don't confuse the post with another one of your stupid distortions. I'm speaking for everyone on Media Bistro including Frank. We'll send you all the rope you need and even select the appropriate tree if you'd just dangle like a large fruit.

I often wondered why so many players look like class a weightlifters all of these years with trunks for necks. Mitchell got it right. All of them had the opportunity to answer to the charges.

crimedog enjoys lynching ..

jtjt225m -Why are you turning this topic into a FOX did it topic??? No one mention FNC but YOU.

The official list had not been released .MSNBC was basing all their reporting on wrong sources. Not the Mitchell report.

Credit where do
Now Olby, I try to be "fair and balanced." Just so you know who mentioned what first, theverman said, "Posted ? 12/16/2007 11:28:53 AM |
How about Fox claiming Obama was a muslim on a number of occasions. That was ok right?"

Now Olby, you followed that up by saying, "Posted ? 12/16/2007 11:59:35 AM |
boo hoo
BUT FOX DID IT BUT FOX DID IT FOX IS EVILLLLL!!!! BOO HOO"

Now I know you are quite capable of going back and reading who said what when, but just in case you don't want to, there it is. I didn't mention it first, second, maybe third. Also, yes the list hadn't been released yet, but if you aren't familiar with sports things, leaks happen hours before anything is officially released. Coaches getting hired, fired, players getting traded, and so on. They made a mistake, and corrected it. Just like when a coach gets hired and they put out the rule terms of the deal, reporters have to go back and correct that. I guess the incorrect reports on ESPN and other networks are smearing the teams, right?
