| wineaux | Posted 12/16/2007 4:14:17 PM | show profile I did most of my holiday shopping online this year (first time), and it was so wonderful. I got more than one thing I needed for half of what I would have spent if I went to a store. What are some of your favorite places to shop online? I got a few things at Overstock, and have to say it was fabulous. I am way under what I budgeted. Who needs to deal with annoying frenzied holiday shoppers when you can do it in your own home, while sipping coffee in your pj's? |
| Janetblueyes | Posted 12/16/2007 4:35:31 PM | show profile Hi Wineaux! I love Overstock too. Especially the $1 shipping. For outdoorsy stuff, Sierra Trading Post can't be beat as well as Title 9. I'm also an LL Bean fanatic. For unique things I love FemailCreations.com Sephora is great for beauty products as well as Folica. For books I always hit Amazon. Here's a tip. Check out CouponCabin.com for unadvertised discounts on all the big sites. Lots of time there is free shipping or other discounts that you can receive just by entering the code that you get at CouponCabin. (The name CouponCabin is cringe-inducing, but I've really gotten some great discounts by going to that site before shopping online.) |
| writesonwater | Posted 12/16/2007 7:49:21 PM | show profile Almost all shopping done online, through small and large vendors. Amazon for books and sometimes music. LLBean was fantastic for a flannel nightie for my mom. Got a gift certificate with a wonderful custom card for my inlaws from Olive Garden, which they love. Bestbuy got me gamestuff for my son, JCPenney.com for clothes for hubby and son and personalized embroidered fleece throw for my son's girlfriend. eBay vendor for a unique Irish gift (Belleek Christmas ornament) for my son's very Irish girlfriend. Custom soaps from a soapmaker I know for several friends. bluemoonsoap.com. |
| HisGirlFriday | Posted 12/17/2007 11:23:25 AM | show profile I have to say I love BN.com - yes - I'm a terrible person for not supporting my local small bookstore (Then again, I don't have one) but still - I love that I can surf around and find interesting ideas - listen to samples of music. I always wind up ordering more than the $25 needed for free shipping. eco-artware.com has cool stuff. |
| mad fingers | Posted 12/17/2007 1:53:44 PM | show profile www.stupid.com eBay and half.com foodireland.com |
| voracious reader | Posted 12/17/2007 4:28:30 PM | show profile vermontcountrystore.com For all those brands you grew up with that you can no longer find on store shelves. Love Garibaldi's biscuits. |
| wineaux | Posted 12/17/2007 5:40:00 PM | show profile The husband bought a few hilarous things at stupid.com for his brothers. I really want to get some of that silk long underwear LL Bean sells. It would have been heaven on a day like today, cold, icy and windy as it was. I am pissed at stupid Teleflora...I ordered a Christmas Cactus for my mother and they had someone call me today and leave a message that was totally incoherent. I checked my personal email and they informed me that they couldn't get her the item. Would have been nice to have known sooner. Now I need to find a freaking Christmas cactus pronto. |
| Printingman | Posted 12/18/2007 9:17:00 AM | show profile A Christmas cactus for you mother? Huh you trying to tell us something about your mother Anyhow tenniswarehouse.com, killerdana.com bluenile.com for jewelry |
| wineaux | Posted 12/18/2007 9:39:47 AM | show profile For some strange reason Print, she wanted one! I had planned on getting her something she could wear, and a cactus doesn't really fit the bill. :) |
| foto | Posted 12/19/2007 8:40:27 PM | show profile Hey guys, we can all do our last minute holiday shopping with Matetrade!!! He carries a full line of e-handy caps, ugg boots, hoodies and of course everybody's favorite, red monkey jeans. Hey who needs William Sonoma or Amazon when there is matetrade Viagra, cialis and male enhancement products too. Janet, do you have a pair of Red Monkey Jeans? |
| foto | Posted 12/19/2007 8:41:11 PM | show profile (just joking) |
| wineaux | Posted 12/20/2007 10:34:54 AM | show profile foto! Matetrade can suck it. |
| foto | Posted 12/20/2007 12:04:22 PM | show profile Hey Wineaux, maybe we should avoid sexual references toward matetrade or we'll get dilbertized. On the other hand, matetrade should suck it. Question for you: Do you think becoming a spammer is a good option for a career change? What do you think...fototrade! |
| wineaux | Posted 12/20/2007 3:57:29 PM | show profile hmmmmm..........I am stunned I have yet to get my own thread Dilbertized. Seriously Matetrade, suck it. And that cellphone bastard, too. As a career change, I'd say it could be hazardous foto. Some day, they may figure out a way for computers to give people the ability to reach into their screens and literally touch the people who send them emails. You might get strangled, or punched, or worse yet, see someone sporting those red monkey jeans that HatedMated sells. |
| keltoi2 | Posted 12/20/2007 5:10:19 PM | show profile alibris for out-of-print books; bluenile for fine jewelry; red envelope for nice women's gifts; the Metropolitan Museum of Art for striking, unusual gifts; amazon or barnes and noble for current books, cds, dvds. |
| keltoi2 | Posted 12/20/2007 5:12:17 PM | show profile oh--and ebay for stuff you remember from long ago that you thought you'd never find again |
| sue ellen mischke | Posted 12/20/2007 5:25:37 PM | show profile thinkgeek.com (for gifts) |
| Mag Girl | Posted 12/20/2007 5:41:20 PM | show profile Donna, I love thinkgeek! My husband is getting a few stocking stuffer items from there. |
| foto | Posted 12/20/2007 7:06:51 PM | show profile Ok wineaux, you talked me out of it. I guess there won't be a wineauxtrade in the future either. So tell me, do you wear red monkey jeans? |
| wineaux | Posted 12/20/2007 11:23:08 PM | show profile wineauxtrade.....I kinda like that. Wonder what I could sell? I do love my red monkey jeans. I've got them on right now, along with my Jessica Simpson hair extensions and my Kathy Ireland baby tee from Walmart. I'm one sexy mama! But, the jeans are really what makes the outfit. No one makes jeans like red monkey does. |
| foto | Posted 12/21/2007 7:15:36 AM | show profile Sounds HOT wineaux! I wish I could do a photo session with you. Actually, I think wineauxtrade might really fly. Go for it! |
