Help....Can anyone provide some sound advice for an Electronic Media major with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism??? I'd appreciate any advice anyone has to offer. | aj | Posted – 12/18/2007 2:31:31 PM | show profile Do Your Research The best way to get a job in your field is to really target the companies you want to work for and get your information to the right individuals there. This may mean lots of time on the phone, talking to assistants, setting up 'introductory' meetings and even offering to work for free for a while. Your post is broad in that you don't mention where you're looking...are there certain cities you're thinking about? Have you connected with your college's alumni association and database of professionals who're part of your career center? This information is invaluable as it is only offered to those who are part of your university. Networking, IMO, is the only way to get a job in this industry so joining some professional orgs is a good way to get started! Good luck! |
| AWC | Posted – 12/18/2007 4:33:18 PM | show profile I really don't want to sound mean -- after all, we all have questions starting out -- but I find it hard to believe that you made it all the way through college without learning how you might go about finding your first job, or even where you might be qualified to work? If that is indeed the case (and I really hope it's not), you deserve to get your money back. |
