Hopefully, I meet up with someone and can chat a bit. Or, go to a cafe with my laptop and try not to look too busy. 3. Will you be getting an end of year bonus? I wish! 4. What gift would you love to receive this holiday season? I bought some beautiful crystal snowflakes for others. They can be hung in a window or on a Christmas tree. They are so pretty. I should have bought one for myself. I wish someone would buy one for me. I bought them in my fave gift store on LI and have purchased so many presents for others there. I tell my husband all the time how much I love that store, but he has yet to purchase something for me from there. 5. Have you ever dated someone of another race? Yes. 6. What are some of the best freebies you have gotten? Silk robe and cute slippers when I checked into a hotel when I was covering a huge entertainment event a few years ago. 7. Have you ever struggled with an addiction? Just my addiiction to sugar. It's hard to stop! This time of year is the worst! 8. What do you imagine Media Bistro's Dilbert looks like? Short dark hair, round glasses. Hair is curly, but too curly. 9. How many languages can you speak or read? SHame on me. Only English. I can speak and read a bit of French. 10. SInging to the radio, chocolate, a good book, sitting down and writing letters to old friends. 3. Will you be getting an end of year bonus? $50. Oh yeah. 4. I like being alone most of the time. I get lonely for my family, who all live pretty far away. When I do, I call...or just think about them hard and they call me. Mom and Dad are psychic that way. 3. How do you combat loneliness? I have been hanging out at a very cool cafe since 1994 that tons of writers, filmmakers, artists, photographers and media people hang out in. It is like Cheers only better. Walk in and there's always someone to hang out with and have excellent conversations on everything from politics to photography to food to the new book someone is working on or a new screenplay, exhibition etc. 3. Will you be getting an end of year bonus? Yeah, I'm going to give myself a BIG pat on the back just for surviving another year. 4. What gift would you love to receive this holiday season? Are you kidding? I love the RTQ's but if YOU are getting tired of the pressure (Donna) then I would certainly understand if you grew tired of coming up with new ones each week. I keep thinking you should somehow turn this into a local community project where you live in the local on-line paper etc. or somewhere you hang out. Make some $$$ from it. It does really help people to get to know each other and grow closer as a result. this is a very positive project. |

No. And not because I don't deserve it, but simply because I don't have a real, salaried job. 4. Can't think of anything. 5. No. Not that I wouldn't, but I just haven't found anyone I found appealing. 6. ARCs, magazines, a bottle of Absolut that they were giving away to people in my office after an event. 7. Not really. 8. Like Dilbert the cartoon character. 9. Obviously English; read Spanish and read and speak a little bit of Russian. 10. Fell waaay short. Mainly because I'd hoped to be employed by my 24th birthday... but it didn't happen. BQ: Janet, if you discontinue the RTQ questions, I will hunt you down and shoot you! As well as other posters on this board, I imagine. And if you discontinue them, I'm sure that someone else will try to pick it up. But nobody's questions could be as good as yours. |

Are there any incriminating photos of you floating around anywhere? i've kept the only evidence of the only nudes, so they are safe. but *unflattering* photos of me can be found everywhere! 2. How do you combat loneliness? different ways at different times. listening to music, calling a friend, reading a good book. but i think the best way is to jump into something that's good for the world and has nothing to do with me. 3. Will you be getting an end of year bonus? nope, freelancer that i am. and in fact, my potential for overtime pay at one place where i work is being cut in the new year. 4. Just a couple of topless shots of me that an ex has which I'm not too worried about. That Christmas party a few years back where I was running topless down Main Street? Photos of that event I would be worried about. Thankfully none exist. 2. How do you combat loneliness? I think loneliness is occassionally necessary. When it drops into my life for a spell, I don't try to shoo it away. Part of me actually enjoys it. 3. Will you be getting an end of year bonus? I got a whopping $65. 4. What gift would you love to receive this holiday season? Just a simple bottle of Chanel Mademoiselle and some footie pajamas which for some reason are only available for kids. 5. Have you ever dated someone of another race? I dated a beautiful black man named Alonzo for two weeks while in college. We were very young and I was unprepared for the negative reactions we often got from people. It was too much for us to handle and we broke up after only a few dates. My biggest score was tickets to "Puppetry of the Penis" on Broadway and admittance to the after party with the performers for an article I was doing. They signed copies of their CD and when I'm in the mood for a good laugh, I'll put it on and watch them perform the Hamburger and the Eifell Tower. My kind of stuff. 7. I'm going against the grain here and feel he is a very attractive guy. I picture him at about six-foot, sandly blonde hair, trim, and light blue/green eyes. He wears rimless reading glasses and used to play rugby in college. He writes screenplays in his spare time and is allergic to peanuts. Just a guess. 9. How many languages can you speak or read? My mother tongue is English, but I can understand, read and speak a little German. Like Keltoi, I am also trying to learn the basics of Irish (Gaelic). 10. Did your income exceed or fall short of your expectations for the year? Way short. I about the same as a full-time, minimum wage worker at K-mart. And if you're thinking Gaelic lessons, I got mine at the Irish Arts Center at 51st and 11th in NYC many moons ago. The teacher was actually a Russian Gaelophile (he lived in the Aran Islands to learn it) by the name of Alexei Kondratiev. The Irish Arts Center has been around for 35 years and offers a wide range of Irish culture, from fiddle and Celtic mythology classes to Irish dance, drama, lots more. Will you be getting an end of year bonus? yes - Another year! 4. What gift would you love to receive this holiday season? Peace, laughter and the end of Bush's rule. I've had enough. Oh, let's let Jesus speak for himself. 5. Have you ever dated someone of another race? No. 6. What are some of the best freebies you have gotten? A recording studio from my son! 7. Have you ever struggled with an addiction? Yes, basketball! Saturday and Sunday afternoon football games. Broke that year's ago. 8. What do you imagine Media Bistro's Dilbert looks like? Olby! 9. I think it's working fine as long as you don't turn the list over to some telemarketing company and I start receiving platinum moose ears in the mail COD. |

How do you combat loneliness? Television. 3. Will you be getting an end of year bonus? Yes, but in April. 4. What gift would you love to receive this holiday season? Something totally unexpected. I expect a pair of earrings, maybe some of my favorite perfume, things along those lines come every year from my kids. I'd LOVE for something out of the ordinary, even if it is wierd, so I can be really surprized, for once. 5. Have you ever dated someone of another race? No, but one holiday my sister brought home her boyfriend and his roommate, who was another race. My parents joked that he was my date. 6. What are some of the best freebies you have gotten? Four tickets to a Broadway show from a vendor. 7. Have you ever struggled with an addiction? Addicted to food. 8. What do you imagine Media Bistro's Dilbert looks like? I imagine he looks like the cartoon Dilbert. 9. How many languages can you speak or read? One and a half. English, obviously, and seven years of French long ago which somehow has sort of stayed with me. And what I call "subway Spanish"...certain words that appear in bilingual signs or ads in the subway/buses. 10. Did your income exceed or fall short of your expectations for the year? I'd have to say short. My bonus last April was not as much as it could have been, and my raise in March was not even COL. ~Bonus Question~ We're now approaching our 300th RTQ question. How do you combat loneliness? I read a book or call a friend or just get out of the house and walk around. Sometimes just being near people is enough to combat loneliness. But I usually don't get too lonely, because there are times when I really enjoy being by myself. 3. Will you be getting an end of year bonus? I work in marketing for a mortgage bank, so that's a no. I did get a $25 gift card from one of the managers, though. 4. What gift would you love to receive this holiday season? The gift of financial freedom so that I could quit my job and write my novel quickly, instead of in dribs and drabs. Failing that, some pretty earrings and a cashmere sweater would be nice. 5. Have you ever dated someone of another race? Yes, various people of various races. 6. What are some of the best freebies you have gotten? I got a really nice set of Philosophy stuff from one of our vendors the other day. And once I won a $100 Visa gift card as a door prize at a party. 7. Have you ever struggled with an addiction? No. I've had to take several narcotic prescriptions for various reasons, and my doctor says I don't seem to have an addictive personality. 8. What do you imagine Media Bistro's Dilbert looks like? I think he has red hair that he parts in the middle, freckles and buck teeth. He also has an odd penchant for wearing bow ties with his short-sleeve white button-front shirts. 9. How many languages can you speak or read? Only one, sadly. I'd like to learn at least two more. 10. Did your income exceed or fall short of your expectations for the year?
