In sales it's the total market available for your goods or service......got that Libs...another way of looking at it is: the total size of the pie and how big of a slice of that pie is yours...easy right? The pie in question is the "Cable News" pie....not the Today Show or Dancing With The Stars or anything else....it is FOXNEWS,CNN,CNBC,MSNBC and HeadLine News...got that Dog? Sooooo,if the pie grows for everyone and your slice of that pie has you out of the top thirty and your share numbers for shows like Hardball are actually going down....(in market share).. how in Gods name does this give Capus or NBC bragging rights? |

If you did.. say,3 million viewers on any given weekday at MSNBC....and you went to 4 million ...voila....you just had a 33% increase....all very true and commendable,but is it meaninful if you have not had one show in the top 30??? I think not. |

You can put down the percentages all you want, but they have grown. It is going to take a long time if ever for any cable news network to beat FNC. They have a great brand and a voice that people want to hear. Here is the thing though. KO has beaten BO a couple times with his show. True enough once was when BO was on vacation, and the second was also on a Friday, but all of that adds up to a victory. Yes, BO is the highest rated cables news show. You can come up with any kind of excuse you want, but KO did have a couple if wins in all of cable news, so a win is a win. Mr. Capus is trying to point out the obvious. Can anyone name another MSNBC show that has held the #2 spot behind BO like KO has? You can use all of the comebacks you want about KO, but the fact is, at least as far as I know his show is the first show to hold such a spot in a long time. No, he is not #1, but has done more than CNN's Outspeaken., as well as the departed Ms. Zahn (a former FNCer). Lastly, can someone post up with the numbers when the last cable rankings hasn't had Countdown in the top 30. I mean even if it wasn't, I don't think BO was in the top 30 after so many years when his show premiered. |

What i wanna know is why more cable watchers watch Hanna Montana more than any cable news. Hmmmm. Perhaps it's because liberals don't get all their news from teevee. Personally I don't care what cable news network gets more denture cream and Metamucil advertisements than the other. | stvj57 | Posted – 12/24/2007 6:06:24 PM | show profile jimbo, i just as much as ayone here say msnbc is a pile of trash. but it does not matter if you finish in 100th place, you can still be growing faster than those finishing first. that does not mean you will ever beat them or ever out grow them or ever be bigger than them. it just means msnbc might have been gaining viewers at a faster rate. i do understand that if you have one viewer and you get one more you have grown by 100%. and if you get one more you have grown 150% since you had only one. to say they are the fastest growing cable network may be true. i never heard anyone say they were claiming to be the most watched or the highest rated. hell for them to say they are the fastest growing may be the most honest thing they have ever said. lol. |
