Hi,

I have the opportunity to do some freelance editing for a Web site. The job is very specific and a little unusual, so I'm unsure how much to charge.

If someone could contact me directly to offer their advice, I'd love to hear your thoughts. (I'm hesitant to give the specs on this site because I don't want to give the employer a head's up about my uncertainty.)

Thanks!

Find a freelance network or club in your area. Professional freelancers know the market rate for your region. Ours is $75-$85 an hour. Quote the standard rate and offer a discounted day or package rate for long-term projects. Know what you can produce in a day so you can give the client a valid estimate. And absolutely, don't let the employer see uncertainty. Know your value, put a realistic price tag on the project and get to work!
