Are you going to ring in the New Year in Times Square ?

Read a book?

Go to a Party?

Dinner with friends?

Watch the ball drop with Dick clark?

Go dancing?

Or will you be in bed asleep before the midnight hour strikes?

Do you usually awake on January 1st with a smashing hangover?

Or are you refreshed and ready to begin a new year with resolutions for a new you?

I'm going to a party at my yoga center where we will
eat delicious vegetarian food, chant together,
then dance in the new year.

At the lake. Rib dinner, then poker around the dining table. Smores later over a fire in the fireplace. Spend a few minutes thinking about resolutions. In lieu of fireworks, we are setting off a bottle of diet Coke with Mentos. (Big whoop ;)

Relatives visiting...so staying home, cracking open a bottle of bubbly, hopefully staying awake until midnight.

Waiting for my spouse to return from his gig at a local Irish pub (it's New Year's in Ireland at 7 p.m. our time, so he'll be home by 10:30). Will feed him a nice dinner of pulled pork, black-eyed peas, rice and collard greens, then toast 2008 (red wine for him, champagne for me) as the dogs and cats jockey for table scraps.

Hangover? Good chance on that one...

Watching the Intervention marathon on the A&E channel followed by the new episodes of Paranormal State.

It's actually my significant other's birthday! He's in the restaurant industry and ALWAYS has to work NYE, but has the rare night off, so we went for a really long hike this afternoon. Now, he's blissfullay taking a nap and later we'll go to our favorite Italian restaurant for a low-key meal and probably walk down to the beach to hear the seals barking in the new year.
Here's wishing a good one no matter what you do!

I just got back from my son and daughter-in-laws where I had scallops and mimosas....husband is also a working musician, works till 1 a.m. so won't be home till probably 2 a.m.....

I am playing fetch with my puppies, having a cup of hot chocolate and getting back to my book. As you can see I am more than exciting, I'm outrageous! ;-)

Happy New Years to everyone! May you all enjoy an abundance of good health, good friends and good times in 2008. And lots and lots of cash too.

Rib dinner with blackeyed peas went well -- the sweet potato pie was a bust (homemade but the gal used a terrible recipe) but the pecan delish.

Movies earlier included Bourne Ultimatum and You've Got Mail (compromise between action and romantic comedy), card and dice games and for some reason a major singalong to the Beatles and other favorites -- my boys have good voices, and lots of harmony to my surprise.

Finally, a Diet Coke/Mentos explosion at midnight and now we're tucking into bed. To all a happy new year ...

just back from l.a.
we got off the plane at about 8 PM, came home, changed, and headed to a small party given by a childhood friend of mine (who has become a good friend of my bf's) and his wife. i was exhausted, but i tried to put in a good appearance for the holiday. we were deep in conversation about the new levon helm album (really) and the history of the band when we suddenly realized it was moments to midnight and quickly poured champaign. all in all good--good conversation, good friends, good music, lovely home. but lousy weather when we went outside to look at fireworks. i miss the l.a. sunshine already.

So while we were snoozing after midnight, my oldest son was proposing to his girlfriend, and we awoke to news of impending nuptials, literally ringing in the new year.

My wife and I had cheese and crackers and a glass or two of Chardonnay (and some leftover pasta and sauce) while watching the first 5 hours of the Lonesome Dove miniseries. Realized it was midnight just around the time Deets gets killed by the Indian kid. We finish the series tonight.

My parents and my in-laws were visiting, so we all went on a dinner cruise around the Newport Harbor. It was through Hornblower Cruises, and the yacht we were on used to belong to John Wayne...there was some pretty cool memorabilia aboard. We had a seafood cocktail, a mixed green salad, steak and lobster tail, and a chocolate mousse type of dessert. It was pretty fun, even though I could tell the parents were eyeing me and my husband as we kissed at midnight, wondering when the grandchildren might be coming.

I was in bed at about 2:00 am. No hangover, just a really bad cold. I have several resolutions, which involve finishing my novel, finding a better job, and traveling more.

Here's to a great 2008!

printing man, grow up
There was no need to make fun of my plans, which happen
to reflect my lifestyle. You sound like an immature person.
I would never put others down for eating meat- to each
his/her own. I had a great time and hope you did too.

Maybe the two of you could live in the same apartment for a while. It could be like one of those reality shows.
