Hello, has any one has any experience with Southern Living either pitching or writing for them? I can't seemed to find a how to pitch article and would like to write for them. Grateful for any advice.

I live in the South and know several staffers there. I'm told they don't really like to use freelancers for the back page essay. Other stuff, I'm not sure. Good luck.

I used to work there, and I can tell you that the main book is more or less written exclusively in-house. Aside from the back-page essay that lenagrove mentions, the only other department I can think of where a freelancer *might* have some luck is one of the state-specific Livings sections.

In that case I will find other outlets for my idea. Thanks everyone.
