I have currently doing two internships one in marketing and one in special event planning. Because I am working my way through school, I have not had the opportunity to intern during the summer. Therefore, should I take a year off to intern or would it be better to finish my education and then intern. In addition, does anyone know how hard it would be to start a career in the military doing public affairs? |
| Cyrus | Posted 1/3/2008 3:25:22 PM | show profile There's a current thread you might want to read in media issues regarding PR; it's no longer on the main page, but it should be there if you click on the media issues link. I'm not sure what you mean by military and public affairs; just to make sure, you have to realize that those jobs aren't held by civilians in most cases. To address your other questions, you might want to try to get a paid internship. A lot of agencies pay interns, even if it's only minimum wage. You don't say where you are, but if you're in the NYC area, you could find paying agency internships at NY agencies; smaller agencies are more forgiving of a varied school track. That way, you wouldn't have to take a year off and could do an internship before you graduate. ------ Cyrus Afzali Astoria Communications www.astoriacomm.com |

There are even paid ntern programs for recent college graduates--especially if you're mobile. You can get some basic info from: http://www.army.mil/internship Hope this helps. |
