| JIMBO99 | Posted 1/3/2008 6:18:42 PM | show profile "2007 Ratings: Basic Cable Network Ranker Fox News Channel ranked 6th in prime time in 10th in total day (Live only data) for basic cable channels. FNC moved up two spots from 2006 (FNC was 8th in prime in 2006; 10th in total day). CNN ranks 26th in prime, down a spot from 25th last year. In total day CNN ranked 26th for 2006 and again in 2007." And PMSNBC is not even in the top 30! |
| soulman | Posted 1/3/2008 6:35:17 PM | show profile CNN may be 26th, but they have integrity and honesty on their side. They are GOLD STANDARD in the news business, and it's a dream for any journalist to be able to work there. FOX is an amateur operation, full of extreme right reporters and anchors with an agenda. CNN has no agenda, just the truth. No wonder one of FOX's anchors jumped ship in a hot second for CNN. She knew where to go to gain respect. Ratings don't mean that a network is quality. I'm sure WWF gets good ratings as well. |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 1/3/2008 7:44:50 PM | show profile Did you see WWF the other night - this woman who looked like O'Reilly had her head popped by another female wrestler wearing duck hunting garb. |
| JIMBO99 | Posted 1/3/2008 8:38:35 PM | show profile Hey Lib.... "No wonder one of FOX's anchors jumped ship in a hot second for CNN. She knew where to go to gain respect. " Ya mean sorta like when Greta came over to FoxNews from CNN.....Greata not only knew where to gain respect..... she knew where to gain ratings Lib. |
| roshob2003 | Posted 1/3/2008 9:15:09 PM | show profile Can I ask people on both sides of the political aisle - why are ratings such a huge reference as opposed to decent reporting and coverage? I have found there are excellent news programs that don't really get the ratings but deliver REAL news. |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 1/3/2008 9:54:37 PM | show profile Ratings are important to those selling crap. |
| roshob2003 | Posted 1/3/2008 10:10:26 PM | show profile There are those in the media who could sell a waste treatment plant based on the crap they push. |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 1/3/2008 11:37:23 PM | show profile Oh my God - the Satan sent his spawn back to earth after putting him a rusty tuna can for the holidays. |
| roshob2003 | Posted 1/4/2008 12:19:35 AM | show profile It ticks me off when people who believe in an idealogy or parts of an idealogy are labeled with a broad brush strokes. Examples include stupid statements - - All liberals are athests and are going to hell. - All conservatives don't believe in global warming. Many people, regardless of their beliefs/idealogy, can and do think for themselves. |
| Latin1 | Posted 1/4/2008 2:30:04 AM | show profile DODD IS TOAST...crimedog there you go. Well crimedork your Dodd is out...lol |
| Olbypocrisy | Posted 1/4/2008 9:04:28 AM | show profile crimedog has to get behind Hillary's skirt now. |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 1/4/2008 9:12:23 AM | show profile Dodd is out? Out of what integrity? Hey, Gomer Huckabee survives another day - I hope he wins the GOP nomination. He'd get trouced by Deniis Kucinich. |
| JIMBO99 | Posted 1/4/2008 9:48:36 AM | show profile CrimeDog...finally got one right! You are spot on Dog...The Huck is the Republican version of Jimmy Carter! |
| JIMBO99 | Posted 1/4/2008 10:15:13 AM | show profile Hey Frank.... I know why the Lib media love the Huck...cuz he'd be a pushover next November.....I understand how the Lib media works....all to well. I think we will see a different outcome in NH however..... At least I hope so. As far as the Dog goes....remember...he's a Canadian and it doesn't matter what he thinks. He won't change his views anymore than you or I would change ours....but on Huckabee...he is correct...Huck is a looooooser! |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 1/4/2008 12:51:02 PM | show profile Jim - wrong - duo citizen my misinformed dunce. Yes, we liberals believe in having a strategy - If Huckabee wins you could run Olby as a democrat and he'd place higher. Repukes living without a Jesus candidate fall off the map. Obama wins! The speech he gave last night electrified the nation. Now you wanks can call Hillary toll free. |
| JIMBO99 | Posted 1/4/2008 2:55:05 PM | show profile Hey Dog....just because you had just a small fragment of all that bull-$hit you've been spewing finally stick, dosen't give you the licence to believe that thinking people take you seriously. |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 1/4/2008 4:04:34 PM | show profile Jim - what the hell were you trying to say? I'll see if I can get a translator drop by who can deciper mungo speak. |
| soulman | Posted 1/4/2008 9:59:14 PM | show profile FOX Righties Frank, You wanted some examples of the FOX right wingers. Let's see here. All of the FOX & Friends hosts are, and that includes the pro-life nutjob Napolitano. Then we have Megyn Kelly, Martha MacCallum, Bret Baier, Brit Hume, John Gibson, Neil Cavuto, Jon Scott and tons of others. Oh, and I forgot one time Republican pundit Heather Nauert. That channel is full of right wing bias. It was great to see one of FOX's very own jump ship for CNN! When Mrs. Chetry proclaimed her new network, CNN, as the Gold Standard, she certainly told FOX just how she felt about working at their crappy network for 6 years! CNN is going to clean up during this election year! |
| JIMBO99 | Posted 1/4/2008 11:33:45 PM | show profile Hey Frank... Ya can't stop BDS with Libs...so ya sure as Hell can't stop FDS! Happy New Year... |
| radionewsguy | Posted 1/4/2008 11:33:47 PM | show profile | email poster A couple corrections To whom this may concern: Fox News Channel has hardly been number one for 10 years. Their claim as cable news leader can realistically be traced back to -- at the earliest -- 2001. If I recall correctly, it was O'Reilly who first claimed victory over CNN and MSNBC. The rest of the channel followed suit around the invasion of Afghanistan. And it's MISS Chetry, not Mrs; Chetry is not her married name. Please, no matter on which side you fall, do some research. |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 1/4/2008 11:55:16 PM | show profile You missed whack jobs - simpletons - rump rooters - phony freaks. |
| Latin1 | Posted 1/5/2008 5:49:43 AM | show profile Ah, yes, Miss Chetry. I remember how liberals nuts would attack her, but how funny she is now on CNN she is a 'heroine'...lol Shows how crazy liberals are. |
| Olbypocrisy | Posted 1/5/2008 11:29:01 AM | show profile Liberals are like that They are your biggest fans until you appear on Fox News. Than they created hundreds of hate websites trying to take you out. |
| chucho | Posted 1/5/2008 11:30:02 AM | show profile >> I have found there are excellent news programs that don't really get the ratings but deliver REAL news. << ABSOLUTELY! I love Frontline. Frontline (and especially Martin Smith, who has done some brilliant reporting out of Pakistan and Afghanistan -- http://www.rainmedia.net/teamMartin.html ) but Frontline isn't even on the rating radar. I like to use the analogy about the music industry. Britney Spears has sold far more albums than one of my favorite contemporary bands, Latin Playboys. But Latin Playboys are skilled musicians and Britney Spears show of her poonanny and panders to pedophilia tendencies in American society. But if you looked at the numbers, the implication is that Briney Spears knows how to play a guitar. It's a good analogy. What is pedestrian doesn't mean it's good, it just means it's pedestrian. Of course a right-winger will just accuse me of being a progressive elitist. And in a way I am. I don't like Britney Spears even though many people do. People who know and love music (and musicians) will always say Latin Playboys is better than Brittney Spears. And the Britney Spears fans aren't even relevant to anything related to music, they're relevant to the music industry. I realize thi analogy is too "nuanced" for the right-wingers on this thread, but I trust the rest of us (the moral majority) understand it. |
| JIMBO99 | Posted 1/5/2008 11:35:43 AM | show profile And the beat goes on....and on....and on..SORRY LIBS...NOT! "December Ratings: FNC's Success @ 6p & 7p Special Report with Brit Hume and The Fox Report with Shepard Smith celebrated diamond anniversaries last month. Smith's 7pmET program logged 75 consecutive months at #1 in Total Viewers and in the A25-54 demo. December also marks 75 consecutive months at #1 for Special Report in Total Viewers and 74 consecutive months in the demo." |
