I see that folks have had a lot of problems with Plenty magazine. i wrote a short piece for them and have been waiting for 2 months to be paid. I've emailed and called the editor (who I'm told is in charge of payment) and have heard nothing back. Anybody else have similar problems lately?

Good to know. I was going to send a personal essay for their The Last Word column and also had a eco story in mind.

actually...
i wrote for them and it was a pretty good experience. i enjoyed working on the piece and generally liked the way it turned out. (and no, i'm not on staff there! : ) )

they paid on publication, rather than on acceptance; and of course it was a few months from when the piece was accepted to when it was published. but when the issue did come out, i got my check in reasonable time.

i love "plenty" and want to see them succeed. i haven't seen the posts in which "folks have had a lot of problems" with them but hope they can do well.

Plenty
Glad to hear they aren't always sloppy. I've been waiting 2 months since publication, by the way. (It was a web piece; maybe they are slower with those.)

Tell them if they don't pay you within 30 days MAX you will file a small claims suit.
