I tried googling some but couldn't find any - is it essentially like a full-time job resume with qualifications except you list your current and previous gigs with brief descriptions? |
| SFElisaW | Posted 1/4/2008 3:16:55 PM | show profile I've done something that works well: I have a traditional one page resume with my job history, and then I added a page that includes headlines of stories I've written (with the publication name) organized by topic, ie business, health, science, technology, travel, etc. I've gotten good feedback on the format because it showcases the breadth of work and the publications. I also have a one pager that I add for corporate work that describes the different formats I've written (ie Q&A, white paper, feature, press releases, etc.) and the publications and clients. Good luck! Cheers, Elisa |
| dribbledrive1 | Posted 1/5/2008 3:07:54 PM | show profile I've been freelancing for a long time, and when someone asks for a resume, I just give them a credit sheet listing all the publications I've written for with asterisks next to those I've been a contributing editor or associate editor for. |
| writesonwater | Posted 1/5/2008 4:38:18 PM | show profile My freelance resume includes previous related full-time jobs, in reverse chrono order, like any resume. The top job on the list is Freelance Writer, with dates, like it's a job -- and a listing of the publications my work has been in. If you have room, you can add the headlines or brief summaries of those pieces. So -- it looks just like a normal resume, with a summary at the top instead of the old-fashioned objective. I give this if people want a resume. Otherwise, I just list pubs I've been published in and links, if it's via email, as well as a cover letterish email including a summary. |
