I have been offered a position with a PR firm and am supposed to get back to them next week with a decision. They said that the salary is negotiable and can be discussed. I was wondering about the proper etiquette with counter offers. If I do negotiate and get what I want, is it ok to accept the new terms on the spot??? Or should I call back the next day?

Thanks in advance :)

If you ask for something and they give it to you, then accept it on the spot. Why not? There's no reason to wait until the next day if they give you what you want.

Just my opinion, from a headhunter who negotiates these things all the time.

I wouldn't wait until next week though, call them asap and ask for what you want...since they said they are negotiable, that tells you there's room to wiggle.

Good luck!

counter offers
i agree with the above.
if you get an offer you like, why not agree?

and a tip from me- if you can find more people in your future position, it might be a good idea to ask them what they think. maybe the "inside scoop" will help you decide.
