According to presidential election polls, finally America seems to be catching on to the fact that the economy is in near-term free fall and the long-term prospects aren't rosy either.

Krugman at the NYT has an great article on how the presidential candidates plan to address the coming recession, responding to recession. In my view, the Clinton team has the best track record and I would trust them the most to deal with a tough economy.

McCain admits he knows nothing about the economy but his economic hero is Mr. Bubble Greenspan.

Giuliani wants to permanently bankrupt the country with huge permanent tax cuts.

Huckabee talks populist but wants to cut taxes for the rich and raise for the middle class.

Romney, standard GOP fare of low taxes pro business.

Edwards, a stimulus package to aid the unemployed and help local/state governments.

Clinton, aid to unemployed and assistance to low income unable to afford heating, etc.

Obama, somewhat similar to Edwards and Clinton but less progressive than either.
