Hi, all. I'm looking for Mac-compatible software to track freelance article submissions, and another software for accounting practices (invoicing, expenses, etc). Anyone use software worthy of recommending? I have looked at iBiz, although it doesn't synchronize with Address Book -- I haven't decided yet if that's a deal breaker. And I've also stumbled across Manuscript Tracker and InkByte's tracker, preferring the look of the later, but again it doesn't chat with Address Book.

Any thoughts on these or other packages would be most welcome.

Thanks, and have a great day!

Also looking into this
Hi. I've been doing a lot of poking about in this area - Billable, Billings 2, Invoice 2, iBiz, iRachet, Studiometry, On the Job, TimeNet, Office Time, Stone Hill Invoicer, etc. In my view, they all fall short in one way - they assume that I work a straight single rate type job. Many of my clients pay me in more than one way - say a flat rate for attending a meeting, but a per word rate for writing a story about it. I also do freelance translating, proof-reading, and editing. In those businesses, at least where I work, there's often a sliding scale, with a basic word rate and multipliers depending on the turnaround time.

I've had a look at iBiz, and I'm not sure I take your point about Address Book synchronization - iBiz, like many of these apps, is capable of taking information from Address Book when you're setting up your clients.

I've never heard of Manuscript Tracker or the Inkbyte tracker. I'll check them out.

Cheers,

Re accounting practices: I heart TaskTime. It's an affordable, mac-friendly, super-simple application, and it does indeed sync with Address Book. I use it to organize all my billing - both hourly and flat-rate. It makes invoices with all the nitty gritty details about how many hours I spend each day on each task. I can use it to generate quick reports to see all my paid and yet-to-be-paid invoices at-a-glance. Best $20 I ever spent.

Re tracking freelance article submissions, I got nothin. Have you found a good application yet?

On-Line Accounting Software
Hi,

I've written some web-based accounting software that you can definitely use on a Mac. It's designed for small business owners, so it might be a little bit more than you're looking for, but you can try it out free of charge. Just go to http://www.thinkcomputer.com.

Good luck,

Aaron
