1. Approximately how many miles do you live from your place of birth?

Too many -- and not just 2,500 miles. I measure it in light years.

2. Who is the epitome of cool in your opinion? I love to listen to anyone who has braved change and forged ahead into progress. That is the coolest thing in the world.

3. What do you find absolutely useless? Highly technical instructions for any gadgets.

4. How many photographs of yourself do you have displayed around your home? One -- wedding photo. (I love While You Were Sleeping, where Peter just has pretty much just pics of himself in his house and wallet.)

5. When was the last time you felt elation? When a metro cover piece came out that I had worked hard on.

6. Have you ever donated blood? Tried, but I was too anemic.

7. Are there any authors you would love to spend a day with? And they would enjoy this and not find me a pain in the neck? I have lists. I'm loving Hugh Laurie's The Gun Seller, and I'm a fan from House. Perhaps I'd start there.

8. Have you ever had/would you ever get a colonic? Someone would have to be very persuasive about the benefits. It just doesn't sound very spa-like to me.

9. Who or what was the subject matter of the best article/photo/design/creative project you have ever produced? Hard to pin down. Perhaps a film director, an infamous historical figure, a transplant patient, a major league club owner or a guy who had fled the country after being convicted of a terrible crime. I found all those stories, and I look back and think of so many I've been proud of, and wish they were all like that. That's the one job that might drag me back to full-time -- enterprise writing. I love it.

10. Where do your daydreams take you? multiply published author with happy grandchildren, perhaps nice clothes and house to boot. I'm not hard to please ;)

~Bonus Question~
What is the biggest drama in your life at present? How to balance everything I need (my dryer died last week, and there are clothes drying everywhere. Tonight, my son looked at a pair of crutches with his dad's underwear poised at the top and chuckled. "That's just disturbing," he said.

10. Where do your daydreams take you?

Ahead about 10 plus years to being owning my own business and having everything I've ever wanted (and I don't mean material things).

~Bonus Question~

I am SO avoiding my deadlines ...
1. Approximately how many miles do you live from your place of birth?

About 800

2. Who is the epitome of cool in your opinion?

Paul Newman, Lauren Bacall.

3. What do you find absolutely useless?

Cable TV

4. How many photographs of yourself do you have displayed around your home?

A handful - mostly with friends and family.

5. When was the last time you felt elation?

Last week when we found out we are high up on the waiting list for our dream elementary school.

6. Have you ever donated blood?

Yes - I also actually volunteered with the Red Cross as a teenager, helping people donate blood.

7. Are there any authors you would love to spend a day with?

Stephen King - he was one of the authors who inspired me to be a writer as a teen. Margarat (sp?) Atwood.

8. Have you ever had/would you ever get a colonic?

Hm. Not crazy about the butt stuff.

9. Who or what was the subject matter of the best article/photo/design/creative project you have ever produced?

I wrote about this guy who died under mysterious circumstances - lot of drama - long story - but not even his distant relatives family knew anything about him. I tried to piece his life together - it really affected me. I remember visiting his grave (had to fudge a little with the cemetary owner on the journalist thing ...)

10. Where do your daydreams take you?

Sadly to material places - what would happen if we won the lottery and didn't have to worry about paying the mortgage.

~Bonus Question~
What is the biggest drama in your life at present?

Tough one! See my crazy cat lady post below about my new stray with the ringworm, or the school waiting list issue. Also; trying desperatly to find balance with taking on too much work.

1. Approximately how many miles do you live from your place of birth? about 80, but I grew up about 2,500 miles away. I think it is so bizarre I wound up back here.

2. Who is the epitome of cool in your opinion? David Bowie. Tom Waits. Angelina seems pretty cool too.

3. What do you find absolutely useless?
My freakin' Italian toaster that the husband bought based on it's cool looks. The damn thing doesn't toast properly and toast and bagels get stuck all of the time. Hello!!!???? It can't even do the one function it is supposed to do, even marginally. People always comment that it is cool looking, which gives me the overwhelming desire to fling the thing out the window.

4. How many photographs of yourself do you have displayed around your home? None.

5. When was the last time you felt elation? Hugging my boys last night. They were very cuddly, which doesn't happen as often as it used to, so I savor it.

6. Have you ever donated blood? No, and I really should. I will make it a point to do so this year.

7. Are there any authors you would love to spend a day with? You're probably going to think I'm a freak, but I'd love to meet Sylvia Brown, the phsychic, and see how my dad and some other people I care about who have passed on are doing.
And David McCullough, too. I love American history, and he is so thorough in his books.

8. Have you ever had/would you ever get a colonic? The doc would have to be pretty damn persuasive to sway me in that direction.

9. Who or what was the subject matter of the best article/photo/design/creative project you have ever produced? A few come to mind. One was about a wine master that made a cover, and one was about an incredible and couragous women who lost her young son, and in his memory did some fantastic work that changed a lot of people's lives. I am in business/marketing writing now, rather than articles. I'm proud of my work, but I can't by any means call it as creative as my past work. I probably could use some sort of creative outlet.

10. Where do your daydreams take you? My childhood, or creating culinary masterpieces. Back to wine country.

~Bonus Question~
What is the biggest drama in your life at present?

No drama, really. Except we may have to relocate in a year, and I am not sure I am up for yet another move.

Joy, happiness, satisfaction, sure. Elation? Have to think on that one.

What is the biggest drama in your life at present?
Lots of family coming into town this weekend for a wedding. The logistics of who needs to be picked up where and when, and who needs rides to and from different events, and who is staying where is getting overwhelming. And it's only the daughter of a cousin who is getting married not an immediate family member.

We're also trying to organize our fourth family reunion for next summer. The wedding will serve to get all my siblings together for a needed discussion on that.

bleak--ok, this editor should have edited his prose a bit more carefully. Should have been writing screenplays in the home of my wife and I. (My wife and me?) Also noticed I said articles "was" rather than were.

Shot a few nifty photos in Pere Lachaise myself.
