Do you require any special qualifications to make it as a copy editor? I assume good grammar and editing skills are all that you'd require. Would the pros share their knowledge? |
| rhino writer | Posted 1/18/2008 11:44:02 AM | show profile You have to really, really care about details and have an excellent eye for detail, while simultaneously keeping the bigger picture in mind. Copyediting is about the only job apart from proofreading where 100% accuracy is expected all the time. |

Also, most copyediting is done electronically now, so you'll most likely be sitting in front of your computer staring at the screen. Much of my work includes coding (different head levels, block quotes, etc.), which I find extremely tedious, as is making references and endnotes align with a particular style manual. Can you tell I'm burned out? |
