Does the NY Times pay for OpEd pieces? I assume the prestige factor and name recognition in getting an OpEd in the Times is more valuable than whatever payment one would receive for a piece in another section. Anyone here have any experience with the Lives column in the Sunday Mag? (The last page, personal essay column.) Do you know what they pay, how competitive it is, etc.?

thanks

Lives is extremely competitve, pays $,1000.
The op-ed page also pays but not as much.
