What is the nicest way to do this without me sounding desparate but very interested in the position? I have the HR Contact's name and am set to email her but I don't know what to write.

I tried to advance at another company I worked for and failed so miserably I had to leave just to find another job. I want to do it right this time. All advice is welcome.

Thanks!

Please let me know if it works out for you...I've been trying to do the same thing at my company for about 2 months. I've had two courtesy interviews, but it seems impossible to move to another imprint here.

How long have you been with the company? There is usually a policy in place where you need to be there for a period of time before you can post for a new position. There may also be policy where you need to ask permission of your manager first. I would ask hr what the policy is and they can advise you. In most companies this is supported as long as it's handled in the right way.

I agree with the advice given above -- most companies have policies in place about internal job movement. You should check with someone in HR before you do anything else. Most companies want to hold on to good employees, and actually encourage internal job candidates -- it's certainly better than having them walk out the door to other competitors.

It's 18 months and by February I'll be there for 16. I emailed the HR rep this morning and I'm going for an interview next week. I was really surprised that she responded so fast. I'm happy that I decided to contact her. Wish me luck!!!
