Hey Folks,

Looking for a little magic from you guys. I have a story about a woman's lifelong struggle that she finally managed to overcome in her 40s. I know More is a possible venue for this piece, but I was trying to come up with some others. Any ideas.

Her problem was somewhat relationship focused. Anyone ever contribute to Tango?

Good Housekeeping? Ladies Home Journal?

yeah, those are thoughts. I guess I was trying to think of smaller magazines where I wouldn't have to jump through a million hoops for a placement.

Hallmark magazine might be good.

Magazines for women over 40
It's big but MORE magazine is the perfect demographic. Do I know anyonw there? No but check it out on the newstand and then do a proper query. It's really worth a try.

Depending on what the situation is, maybe a magazine such as POSITIVE THINKING?

I'd try Quick&Simple.

Lena- Actually Positive Thinking popped into my head too. Have you ever written for them? What are they like?

New Yorker- Isn't Bee for women in their 20s?

sd2la- Thanks for the tip but this is more of a narrative piece about a woman with a serious problem. It was neither quick nor simple to resolve. Thanks though.

Town and Country
Redbook
Good Housekeeping
Self
Fitness
Womens World

I'm over 40 and those are the mags I read. Have never read MORE (though I should I guess!) and have never heard of Tango.

Depending on the specifics, SELF, Womens World, or Redbook might be great.

Depending on the location, you might look at City Mags, like Boston Magazine, New York, etc.

Good Luck!
Pam

I tried to post this yesterday but it didn't work.

How 'bout Chatelaine (Canadian)?

chatelaine?
Do they run stories about American women? Where she's from isn't 100percent relevant but it plays a role.

Hannah: Hallmark?
Have you ever written for them? I have a personal essay, not the story in my original post I thought about sending them.

re: Chatelaine
Probably not unless it's widely relevant to women 35-60, really unusual/newsworthy or has a Cdn tie to it.

I thought perhaps you were Canadian from your French username (:
